Division 04 Masonry · Division 07 Moisture Protection

Every place water gets into a New Orleans building, lettered.

Paramount works the whole building envelope, not one product. This is the drawing behind that: a typical brick building in the rain, and the six places it lets water in. Each letter is a service.

  1. Keynote A: Roof and below grade

Flat roofs and parapets above, basements and parking garages below: the planes water sits on. Coatings and membranes over the whole surface, and below-grade waterproofing.

    Commercial Waterproofing Services
  2. Keynote B: Mortar joints

Once the mortar washes out, rain runs straight into the wall. Tuckpointing puts back the fine line between mortar and brick that keeps it out.

    Historic Masonry Restoration
  3. Keynote C: Windows and lintels

Dried glazing, and steel lintels rusting over doors and windows until the brick above cracks. Lintels replaced, windows reglazed and refurbished rather than thrown out.

    Historic Masonry Restoration
  4. Keynote D: Expansion joints

The joint is there so the building can move. When the bead hardens and lets go, water gets in. Masonry gaps, concrete joints and roof joints resealed.

    Sealant & Expansion Joints
  5. Keynote E: The wall face

Brick, stucco and concrete drink rain. A water repellent lets the wall shed it without changing how the wall looks.

    Water Repellent Application
  6. Keynote F: Balconies and decks

A balcony is a roof people walk on. Waterproof and anti-slip deck coatings for galleries, pool areas and walkways.

Project record

Named buildings, and what was done to each.

Paramount's own project list runs from churches, schools and hospitals to detention centers and work in the French Quarter. Four named buildings, with the scope as Paramount describes it.

Cotton Mill and Property One condominiums · PRC/HDLC approvals

“Paramount Waterproofing Solutions is one of the best companies that I have dealt with. Paramount Waterproofing worked at Cotton Mill and Property One for several years. Major jobs such as tuck-pointing, roof work and painted the water tower. Many jobs needed PRC/HDLC approval due to the building being historic and they met all requirements with no problem. The owner was onsite overseeing the projects and his workers followed our strict rules that our condominium association required. Paramount is one of the best companies in New Orleans.”

Five services, keyed to the drawing.

Each one closes a lettered place on the elevation above. Every job starts with a look at the building and a written scope; there is no price list, because no two walls fail the same way.
